Collecting Water Chestnuts
SUBMITTED by Sharon Maher, ALASA Academy, Inc. (7-Jun-2011)

As July Draws Near...
  • Camper registrations for the 2011 Day Camp Sessions at Beechwood State Park began earlier this year and openings are filling up quickly. We still have room for more in all 3 weeks – July 11, July 18, and August 1.
  • Please pass the word that we have added the highly requested optional Friday night sleepover each week of the camp.
  • ALASA scholarships have been given to several local Wayne County school districts. More scholarships are needed so we can include all Wayne County schools in this wonderful opportunity. If you can help call 315-573-1470 for more information.
  • ALASA’s work at Beechwood State Park continues. The park is looking wonderful with the help of our volunteers and Wayne County Probation Program participants, the Town of Sodus and their volunteers, Craig Wollensen and the Boy Scouts, Lyons Club members and many others. If you want to contact the Town of Sodus about helping, please call Craig Wollensen at 315-483-2241.
  • On Saturday, June 25th from 9:00 to 3:00 ALASA will have a work day to help Wayne County Soil and Water do Water Chestnut Harvesting on Maxwell Bay and to make final Day Camp preparations. If you have time, stop by with your favorite tool and some energy, and enjoy the atmosphere while you are there. More information later.
  • CHECK OUT THE ALASA WEBSITE for more information and great pictures! www.ALASA-Academy.org
REMEMBERBEECHWOOD STATE PARK IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC dawn to dusk and is a walk-in park.
