What an exciting opening game of the Newark Pilots inaugural season!  Over 1600 fans of the Watertown Wizards and Newark Pilots attended tonight's opening game at Colburn Park.  Mayor Peter Blandino tossed the first pitch at the start of the game while Newark Pilot, Pitcher, Carson Beauchaine, Town of Arcadia Supervisor, Dick Colacino, and Team Owners, Bob & Leslie Ohmann cheered from the side.

Pitcher, Carson Beauchaine
At the onset of the first inning, Pilots made the third out against the Watertown Wizards by catching the fly ball, ending the inning by retiring the first three batters one-two-three. The bottom of the first inning also proved that the Wizards were just as serious by making the first out at first base off from Michael Bolling's drag bunt and a second out by catching Ray Delvalle's deep fly ball.

Designated hitter, Nick Parent broke the trend with his base hit that flew over the tip of Wizard, Angel Rosa's glove, marking the game's first hit. Randy Villa, with a keen eye, drew a walk

Some excitement occurred during the fifth inning with Kyle Attle's base hit to right field.  The Wizards attempted multiple times to pick him off first base. Bolling's sacrafice fly to centerfield moved his fellow team member to third base. A wild pitch by the Wizards brought Attl into home plate for the first run of the game. Newark Pilots, with a threat to extend the lead, failed to with the strike out of Adam Peacock.

At the start of the eighth inning, Pilots gave the Wizards the lead after Pat Talbut's and AJ Capone's run in, making the score 2-1. Kody O'Connor lined a triple into the right center field gap which eventually set up the third run of the game on a sacrafice fly in the top of the ninth inning.

Pilot's mascot, Ace, was also on hand to lead the crowd in delightful cheering while he posed for a few photos with fans!

The Pilots next home game is this Sunday, June 19 against Cooperstown.  For more team information, visit www.NewarkPilots.com.
