WCHS Hosting Wing It!, a Buffalo style Wing Contest

The Wayne County Historical Society Museum of Wayne County History is getting everything underway to hold the first Buffalo style Chicken Wing competition at the museum on 13 November 2009 from 6pm-9pm. The Wing It! will be fun for cooks and wing lovers alike.

To spice up the competition, various restaurants have already called for entry numbers to enter their special Buffalo style Chicken wing. “Since Abigail’s Restaurant won the state wide Buffalo Chicken wing hunt, I asked them personally if they would put those wings in the competition also,” said Executive Director, Larry Ann Evans who continued by saying “So the famous Blue Bayou Chicken Wings will be there.”

Celebrity judges will be at the museum, including Ben “Thor” Beavers, professional Wing eater. As a special treat, the first three people through the door will also be invited to judge the competition with the official judges.

After the competition the fun continues with a special viewing of parts of the documentary, “The Great Chicken Wing Hunt”, filmed by Lyons resident and chicken wing enthusiast, Matt Reynolds.

The winner of the Wing It! competition will be crowned the Wing-King or Queen or Couple of Wayne County and receive a prize.

All persons entering chicken wings in the competition should have an entry number by calling the museum and should arrive at the museum with 3 to 4 dozen wings between 5:00pm and 5:30pm the night of the cookoff.

Entry fee to enter chicken wings in the Wing It! competition is $5 and can be paid at the door the night of the event. To attend the Wing It! without entering chicken wings, cost is $10.

“We’ve got a lot of contestants,” said Evans, “I hope we get a hungry crowd!”
