Stoney's Pizzeria, owned and operated by Jim Stone of Lyons, opened its doors for business this past month. Though the location of the pizza shop has been home to several pizzeria's in the past, Stoney's sets itself apart from the others by adding some delicious flare to the menu. Aside from all the things we already know and love, Mr. Stone has also added a Thursday night rib dinner and a Sunday chicken barbecue. Other inventions include a pulled pork pizza and a hamburger pizza.

Stoney's, also a caterer known as Stoney's Country Barbecue, carries pulled pork that just can't be found anyplace around. He has also brought back old menu goodies such as the cold subs and chicken dinners and an ever affordable lunchtime buffet. Even the pizza itself has a slightly sweeter sauce but on a larger crust. This little shop is carrying the largest pizza in town that spans 18" in diameter for a large and a 16" medium and 12" small. The quantity of the food is surely offering patrons the best deal for their dollar. And starting next week, breakfast will be served from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The restuarant accepts cach, checks and debit cards.

Mr. Stone has ten employees that also contribute to some of the fantastic changes occurring. One of the most widely talked about pizza programs is the Teacher of the Week. Every Tuesday and Thursday, Miss Jenna (Stone's youngest daughter) picks a teacher's name. That teacher wins a smiley-faced pepperoni pizza for their class. The students have expressed their sentiments of appreciation by adorning the shop walls with pizza shaped thank you notes along with various cards and posters.

Though the doors have been open for less than a month, it appears that the patrons have enjoyed the hodge podge of delectable foods. Aside from the portions they have ordered, new menu treats have often been offered for sampling.

Stone is a lifelong resident of Lyons. He and his wife Jackie still live in Lyons with their daughters, Samantha and Jenna.
