For the third summer, the Lyons Public Library will be hosting a 3 week Song Writing Workshop Series during the month of July. The workshops will be led by Nancy and John Bryan of Clyde. Nancy and John are Grammy nominated songwriters and have written songs for Walt Disney Records, MTV and for their own albums.

The series will last three weeks with two sessions a week for children ages 7 and older and adults. Families are welcome to participate. Participants will learn how to write songs and how to set them to music. At the end of the workshops, there will be practice sessions with all participants and Nancy and John in order to prepare for a concert on Sat., Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. in the Community Room.

The workshops will take place on Mon., July 12 and Thurs., July 15, Mon., July 19 and Thurs., July 22 and Mon., July 26 and Thurs., July 29 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. You don’t have to attend every session but it’s important to make the first two. These workshops are free but registration is required. Funding from the Robert G. Boehmler Foundation make the workshops possible. Call the library at (315) 946-9262 or email lyonslibrary@owwl.org to register or for more information.
