DesignConnect of Cornell University has announced that Lyons has been  chosen as a project site for the Fall 2010 semester.  The project will bring a team of students from various disciplines to Lyons to assist in the creation of a plan for the eventual restoration and development of Central Park in the Village of Lyons.  Students will bring together all who have an interest in the park to help determine what direction any future work in the park should take.

DesignConnect is a multidisciplinary student outreach  organization that brings together small towns and teams of students to work on “real world” projects. The students, from various areas of study, collaborate with residents to create comprehensive and sustainable design solutions. Villages such as Lyons receive thoughtful and innovative designs and students get real experience – a benefit to all involved.

DesignConnect is in the process of recruiting the team of students who will work on the Lyons project..  Once the team is in place, the details of the planning process will be announced and the work will begin.  The project will be completed by the end of the year.

Application to the DesignConnect program was made by the Lyons Main Street Program Design Committee.  The project is a collaboration of the Lyons Main Street Program, the Lyons Civic Club and the Village of Lyons.    For more information, please contact webmasterlmsp@me.com or call 315-398-8974.
