“Lyons is a tough team. But we came out and played hard. The thing we have to work on though is digging out the harder hits”, stated Sodus Varsity Coach, Vicky Wilbur.
With the young season returning, the Lyons volleyball team hosted their division rival the Sodus Spartans. Lyons’ impressive JV team improved their record to 2-0 Friday night led by Head Coach, Bridgette Barr. When asked about their victory, Coach Barr was really proud with her team and how aggressive they played.

Sodus JV Coach, Katie Hall knew the challenges. “We need to work on our team work, but I feel very confident that we’ll improve as the season rolls on”.

As for the defending Section V champion varsity team led by Team Captain Junior, Lexi Buckley, they opened their home stand with a win against the Spartans. Last year’s Defensive Captain, Gina Pursati had 6 kills.

Matt Barr, Lyons’ Varsity Head Coach, pleased with their win still feels that “We have a long way to go here. I thought our setters played well but we are looking to get better at certain areas.”

With a long season ahead, the Spartans and Lions eventually will square off again later in the season; however the Lyons Lions are on the prowl for another title.
