Lyons— Continuing his commitment to assist local fire departments in their efforts to protect the community, State Senator Mike Nozzolio today joined local and County representatives and area firefighters for the reopening of the newly-renovated Wayne County Fire Training Facility. Senator Nozzolio was instrumental in helping to renovate the facility, which is now equipped with fully insulated burn rooms so local firefighters can adequately train
for fire emergencies.

“Our local fire departments provide critical lifesaving services to our citizens and communities. It is vitally important that our fire departments have the best training available in order to do their jobs effectively and enhance public safety,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The Facility will provide firefighters and emergency services personnel with the resources and tools they need to make sure our region continues to have the best prepared first responders anywhere.”

With Senator Nozzolio’s support, the Fire Training Facility has installed three live burn rooms lined with stainless steel to provide firefighters in training with a controlled environment for a safe, hands-on firefighting experience. In addition, a temperature monitoring system has been installed so instructors can keep track of the live fires in the training rooms. The Facility has not been able to hold live fire training in four years because it did not have the technology to safely control these training fires.

“There is no substitute for live fire training. Firefighters trained under live fire conditions are better prepared for the unexpected and better equipped to save lives,” said Senator Nozzolio. “It was a pleasure working with Dick Colacino of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department, who was instrumental in moving this project forward, as well as Wayne County and State officials and our local fire departments to renovate this facility. I thank all the firefighters for their commitment to serving and protecting the public.”

I always get a kick when a politician like Nozzolio shows his support by giving taxpayers money to something but making sure his picture is taken and an article is written about him.

Previous comment was made by a fed up taxpayer and does not recommend anyone currently running for office. The problem isn't only the republican party but also the democrat party. So please don't read your bias in to other's comments. Thank you
