   Virginia Tech University sophomore guard Alyssa Fenyn (Newark) matched her career-high of 15 points on Saturday against Robert Morris, but the Hokies got left in the dust in the first half and couldn’t recover in the second, losing 66-52.
   Alyssa also got her first collegiate block, made four steals, three assists and grabbed two rebounds. Tech is 5-4.

   University of Buffalo freshman forward Javon McCrea (Newark) had his third double-double of the season Saturday afternoon when the Bulls spotted Wisconsin/Green Bay a lead then went roaring by for a 78-64 win.
   Javon scored 13 points, took in 12 rebounds, blocked a career-high five shots and had two assists on the night. Buffalo raises its record to 6-3.   




   Roberts Wesleyan ran its record to 8-4 last night with an 83-46 win over RIT. Sophomore guard Marissa Bunce (Newark) scored 12 points, tagged six rebounds, made four assists and three steals for a superb all-around game. Senior forward Brittany McMillon (Lyons) added four points and four rebounds.

   The Lady Lakers from Finger Lakes Community College staged a second-half rally against Erie Community College on Thursday night, but the Kats had too big a lead and cruised to a 61-53 win.
   Sophomore forward Laurie Diesenberg (Wayne) put up 14 points for the Lakers before fouling out, and Sara List (Sodus/DeSales) added four points.

   The Monroe County Community College women’s basketball team won the Cougar Holiday Classic at Genesee Community College on Sunday by beating Community College of Rhode Island, 78-63. The win was the fourth in a row for the Lady Tribunes, who got to the final by beating ASA on Saturday, 63-46.
   Sophomore guard Shakista Woolfolk (Newark) had two points, two rebounds and an assist against ASA, then scored two more points, grabbed one rebound and made two assists in the championship game. MCC is 5-5.

   Nazareth College dropped its Empire-8 Conference opener to Ithaca College Thursday night, 94-84, despite a 22-point, eight-rebound, seven-assist effort from sophomore guard Tyshun Stevens (Newark). The Golden Flyers are 6-2 (0-1 E-8).

Kyle Bree wins 400 IM
for Monroe County CC
   Alfred State College sophomore Ethan Wright (Clyde-Savannah) was part of the winning 200 Free Relay (1:34.90) when the Pioneers met – and lost to – Monroe County Community College on Thursday, 115-83. He was second in the 200 Butterfly (2:26.92) and third in the 400 Individual Medley (5:09.00).
   MCC sophomore Kyle Bree (Newark) won the 400 IM (4:59.29).

   University of Pittsburgh/Bradford senior Jacob DeVolder (Newark) got points for the Panthers in two events at the Fredonia State Invitational two weeks ago – he swam the anchor leg of the 17th-place 800 Free Relay (8:28.98) and was 20th in the 1650 Free (19:36.54).
            Track
   Utica College freshman Breiten Balschmiter (Newark) made his presence known Saturday afternoon at the St. Lawrence University Holiday Relays – he won the Shot Put (47-6.5) with a toss good enough to qualify him for ECAC post-season competition.
