Dear Community Member,

We would like to remind you all that the community health fair will be this Saturday April 2 from 9 am-1 pm at the Lyons Community Center. The purpose of this event is to give back to our community, staff and students by providing education, entertainment and many free items to those who attend. To date we have confirmation of over 40 agencies that will be joining us. There has been a great deal of time and effort put forth by students and staff in planing this event.

We will have entertainment provided by Kid Power who will be presenting "Operation Lunch Line" and will provide an opportunity for guests to join Kid Power on an amazing journey inside the human body of a young boy named Max. Presentations will be at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30.

We will have a presentation made by Dr. Mike Vorozilchak from Finger Lakes Family Chiropractic and Wellness at 10:00. Dr. Mike will talk about how experiencing outrageous health and wellness every day of your life doesn't happen by accident, it happens by design! Join Dr. Mike Vorozilchak as he shares the "secrets" of the outrageously healthy! Begin the journey to a new you by understanding the mindset of optimal health and the key habits to help you get well and stay well for a lifetime!

Each year we focus our fundraising efforts on a local agency. This year we have chosen Mercy Flight Central in honor of the care it provided to the students involved in the bus accident in the Clyde Savannah School district. There will be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament for boys and girls in grades 5-12. Cost per team is $20.00. Participants should contact Steve Veeder to register at 946-2250. We will also be accepting registrations at the door starting at 8:30. The public is also encouraged to purchase a paper helicopter for $1.00. The helicopters can be purchased at the HS through either Jill Harper or Kim Sholly, at the elementary school from Lynne Maslyn or at the health fair on Saturday. At 11:00 on Saturday April 2 the helicopters will be dropped from the top of a 70' ladder fire truck provided from the Lyons Fire Department. The owner of the helicopter who lands closest to the bull’s-eye will win a $25.00 Walmart Gift Certificate. Airplanes will be sold at Lyons Central School, Clyde Savannah Central School, St. Francis/St. Stephens and St. Michael Schools. All proceeds will be donated to Mercy Flight Central.

Many free health screenings will be available. Just to mention a few, there will be blood pressure screening and glucose and cholesterol screening. Many free items and services will also be available. Operation Safe Child (fingerprinting and photo ID) will be offered through the Wayne County Sheriff Department and free bicycle helmets will be given away to children from Wayne County Public Health.

As a final service, the Lyons Wrestling Club will be offering Chicken BBQ dinners prepared by Bone Appetit. Dinners will be available for $10.00 and will include 1/2 dry rubbed/smoked chicken, salt potatoes and cole slaw.

This is a very exciting day and will have something for everyone. Please consider joining us for a few minutes on Saturday. You will be very glad that you did!
