Guests: There were three guests: Dan Craine, NYS Canal Corporation: After introductions Dan Craine gave a brief synopsis of upcoming work along the Canalway Trail. Marie Cramer: Gave the committee an update on the progress of the grant application for the proposed trail at the Lock 30 Park. Pete Henry indicated he would like to have at least two trails ready and signage up for National Trails Day. Workdays will be scheduled and trail markers ordered. Aaron has discussed the walkway connection to Bullis Park with both Bill Hammond and Scott Allen, hoping to have the project ‘shovel ready’ for any grants which may come available. Ganargua Creek Meadows: Is in good shape. Pete would like to move the trail closest to the creek. A work day is planned for May 5th. Lock 60: Bill, Bill & Greg have completed work in the prism west of the lock and have it looking great! New signs are needed for the west end of the trails, and there are trees in the parking area at the corner of O’Neil Rd. & Quaker Rd in need of trimming. Important Dates: Canal Clean Sweep: April 20 – 22, 2012. National Trails Day: June 2, 2012: see Commons Parkway above Cycling the Erie Canal Bike Tour: July 8-15, 2012: Water stop, Tuesday, 7/10 Next Event/Work Date: Was 1/31 at Commons Parkway Saturday May 5, Family friendly cleanup at Ganarguia Creek Meadows 10:00 A.M until noon Next Meeting; TBD
