An isolated island - a military invasion - a love story - and a potato peal peel pie: they all come together in this year's Big Read…“The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society” by Maryanne Shaffer and Annie Burrows. This book is a series of letters between a writer and a number of people who lived on the Island of Guernsey during the German Occupation of World War II. Many interesting activities have been planned for the month of March in connection with this book. Palmyra Community Library is sponsoring a review of the book on February 11 at noon which will be given by Mayor Emerita Vicky Daly. Rev. Penny Farrington will have a slide show of pictures she took on a recent trip to the Island. This also includes a luncheon ($5.00) so reservations are required. Please call 315-597-5276 to make reservations. Books, ETC. of Macedon will have two Sundays in March where the book will be the focus point. On March 3 at 4:00 PM, we will discuss the book with all of its themes. On March 17 at 4:00 PM, there will be a discussion on World War II history. There will be other activities announced as they become known Our Big Read helps us to be a more cohesive community. When we share the same reading material, we have more to talk about.
