With temperatures on the rise homeowners are turning to their air conditioners to keep cool and comfortable. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of a central air conditioning system can be significantly compromised if the ductwork that distributes the conditioned air leaks… and, unless they've been properly sealed, most do.

"Ducts are an often-overlooked but essential part of a home's central air conditioning – cooling or heating – system and, if they have not been properly sealed, the resulting leakage wastes energy and often compromises the comfort level in the home" comments Steve Cooper, co-owner of PMC Energy Services, a Rochester-based business specializing in duct sealing using a patented breakthrough technology called Aeroseal®. "Holes in the ducts and gaps at the joints, even small ones, typically add up to 20-35% of the supply system capacity leaking into unintended spaces – wall cavities, the basement, and the attic. As a consequence, rooms on the upper floor(s) are starved of the conditioned air necessary to achieve desired comfort levels. Similarly, leaks in the return-air system – typically greater than 60% of capacity – draw unconditioned air into the system forcing the air conditioner to work harder to compensate and often introducing dust and allergens into the home. By a combination of manual and Aeroseal sealing, which is the only effective means on the market today to reach and seal ducts in an existing home, we typically achieve 90% reduction in leakage… and, more importantly, our clients enjoy an immediate comfort improvement and lower monthly utility bills.”

PMC Energy Services, Inc. was established in January 2013 and is the only Aeroseal® dealer in the Rochester area. To learn more about duct sealing using the Aeroseal® technology, visit www.pmcEnergyServices.com or www.Aeroseal.com.
