Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult
The Newark Public Library's January 9th
Friends Luncheon will feature a book review by Pat Gorthy. Reservations are necessary and due by Wednesday, January 7. Call the library at 331-4370.

Author Jodi Picoult writes about Jenna Metcalf who is on a quest, searching for her mother, Alice, an elephant researcher, who disappeared 10 years earlier after a tragic accident at their sanctuary for former circus/zoo elephants in New England. Leaving Time explores the mother-daughter relationship, and the idea that those we can't forget are never truly gone.

Pat Gorthy is a retired school teacher living in Lyons, New York, where she is an active member of the Lyons Heritage Society.  This society operates a museum within the H. G. Hotchkiss Essential Oil Building dedicated to the history of the once world-famous peppermint industry in Lyons, New York.  Pat lives with her husband, Bob, in a farmhouse once owned by the Lyons Taylor family.

The luncheon begins at 12 noon and will feature home made apple pie for dessert. The cost is $5.00.
