Empire Farm Days offers a diversity of
field demos and mini-seminars.
Seneca Falls, NY; July 24, 2015.   Short seminars on pop-up fertilizer and using a tile plow to install drainage have been added to the daily educational opportunities available at the August 11-13, 2015 Empire Farm Days at Rodman Lott and Son Farms in Seneca Falls, NY.

The advantages of using pop-up fertilizers in direct contact with seed at planting to increase early season nutrient availability to corn and soybean crops will be presented daily from 10am to 10:30am in the Welcome Center on the 300-acre showgrounds. It is important to get the application rate right to avoid potential salt injury to the seed, and some products come with the option to add pesticide to a liquid pop-up.

From 10:30am to 11am, the presentation will discuss how tiling impacts water management for crop production and how farmers can use tile plows to install farm drainage tile or corrugated tubing themselves. It is important to do some homework before making a purchase to make sure the equipment will meet grade tolerance for the soil and topography.

White’s Farm Supply is sponsoring the presentations with guest speakers from manufacturers in Kansas and Minnesota.

The 300-acre Empire Farm Days features 600-plus representatives of agricultural interests; working farm equipment and displays; test driving opportunities; Dairy Profit, Equine Center, Soil Health Center and crops seminars; live animal demonstrations; and farm life displays. Parking is $10 per vehicle. Learn more at www.empirefarmdays.com.
