WILLIAMSON-PULTNEYVILLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
The Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society begins its 2017 membership drive this month.
The mission of the Society has been and continues to be preserving the history of the Town of
Williamson.  The Society is located in the Hamlet of Pultneyville at 4130 Mill Street in a
landmark home c.1858 purchased in 1996.  The home was known as the Auchampaugh residence.

Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society is a non-for-profit organization relying on memberships,
grants and fundraising for its financial support.  Membership dues are used to maintain the three
W-PHS properties.  The Society Museum houses exceptional exhibits and an extensive artifacts
and archival collection.  The museum is open and free to the public June through September weekends
and by appointment throughout the year.  Located behind the house is the War of 1812 Bicentennial
Peace Garden available to enjoy throughout the year.  Gates Hall bears distinction as the oldest active
little theatre in the United States.  The Society has an ongoing relationship with Gatesingers, the
resident theatrical group that uses Gates Hall for their plays.  Gates Hall is also available to the
public for private functions.  The third property maintained by W-PHS is Centennial Park in the
heart of Pultneyville.

The historical society also sponsors monthly programs of historic interest as well as community events.
Some of this past year’s programs have been Underground Quilts, History of the American Legion,
Civil War Letters, and Mural Mania. Community events have been Dutch Dinner, Homecoming
Festival, Picnic in the Park, and Community Garage Sale.  Upcoming events to finish out 2016
are the Moonlight Cemetery Tour in October, Harvest Dinner in November and the Holiday Music
Program in December. Programs for 2017 are in the works and promise to be fascinating.
All programs are open to the public.

Please consider becoming a member of the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society.  How active
a member you wish to be is always totally up to you.  There are four membership levels beginning
at just $25.  Membership forms can be found on the W-PHS website at www.w-phs.org or by
contacting Jim & Kathy McCaig at kmccaig@gmail.comThank you for your support of the
