Call for Entries: 2012 Erie Canalway Photo Contest
Winning entries to be featured in 2013 calendar

2011 Photo Contest Winner, Lockport Locks by Stephen Bye

Entries are being accepted now through September 7, 2012 for the 7th annual Erie Canalway Photo Contest. Winning photos will be displayed in the 2013 Erie Canalway calendar.
Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit prints and digital images in four contest categories: Bridges, Buildings and Locks; For the Fun of It; On the Water; and the Nature of the Canal.

The contest captures and shares the beauty, history, people, and distinctive character of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, which is comprised of the Erie, Oswego, Cayuga/Seneca, and Champlai Canals, and their historic alignments, and surrounding communities. The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor spans 524 miles across the full expanse of upstate New York, encompassing the Erie, Cayuga-Seneca, Oswego, and Champlain canals and their historic alignments, as well as more than 230 canal communities. Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission, in partnership with the National Park Service, collaborates with government agencies, communities and organizations to protect and promote the canal corridor for all to use and enjoy.

The second in a series of "FINE WINE & FINE ART" events is scheduled for Wednesday, FEBRUARY 1st from 7-9 pm at The Landing at Pultneyville. This special event, hosted by Artisans' Loft and The Pultneyville Grill, will feature Neil Montanus, retired legendary Kodak photographer, who will be joined by his son Jim, also a photographer.

This is a rare opportunity for a glimpse into Neil's career as he shares some of his most iconic images including several historic Coloramas that he photographed and recalls anecdotes about his experiences photographing famous people, models and places. In addition, Neil's work will be on display and available for sale at Artisans' Loft for the month of February.

Tickets are $15 all inclusive... Australian wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres and visit with Neil. Space is limited and reservations are required for this special event and can be made by calling 315-589-4512.

6:30 – Program – Images and Music of the Adirondacks

"I Am the Adirondacks" is Carl Heilman II's most recent, digital, multi-image production and is an evocative, visual journey that speaks of our relationship with wilderness and our spiritual connection with the Earth as we venture into the spectacular landscapes of nature and find wonder in the details. Carl has photographed the Adirondacks for more than 30 years, working to meld his passion for wildness into his landscape and panoramic photography. His work has been presented on regional PBS stations and has been published in many national and regional publications, including his coffee table books.

Dan Berggren, Dan Duggan, Casey Filiaci and Peggy Lynn are seasoned solo performers with more than 25 albums among them. Their combined accomplishments include national public radio airplay, regional TV specials, documentaries, movies, TV specials, two Emmy nominations, awards from the Adirondack community and even music for Disney. With traditional folk roots and original songs, they perform with unique arrangements and striking harmonies.
