Lyons Heritage Society is delighted to be a participant in the Lyons, New York village-wide celebration of Peppermint Days, 2009, 8-12 July.
The Society, headquartered in the former Hotchkiss Essential Oils Company office, at 95 Water Street in Lyons, will open the building for free tours on Friday, 10 July, 3-5 pm; on Saturday, 11 July, 10 am - 4 pm; and Sunday, 12 July, 1-3 pm.
In addition to the fascinating group of objects connected with the Hotchkiss Essential Oils Company and a new PowerPoint slide show on the same topic, the Society will be exhibiting interesting and unique items relating to the Town and Village of Lyons from its own and several private collections.
A special feature this year will be the display of rare items relating to the national peppermint industry from the personal collection of Lyons resident Dick Kelley; during part of the open hours, Mr. Kelley will be on hand to answer questions about his passion for this field of collecting.
