Wayne County Council for the Arts opens their 2014 season with the popular Wayne County High School Art Exhibition from March 6th – March 22nd. We celebrate our 33rd  consecutive year for this exhibition of art created by students from Wayne County High Schools.

In addition to our High School Exhibit, Susan L. Lane will exhibit in the Chris Fayad Member’s Gallery.
Susan says, “I consider myself an educator first, and an artist second. The driving force, for me, is sharing
what I know to help others learn, achieve success, and feel joy. I began my art teaching career with a goal of demystifying the act of creating art. I strive to make artistic processes explicit so that students can focus their energies on skill building and creativity. That goal has driven me to research, learn, and practice a wide
variety of mediums and processes, broaden my understanding of intrinsic motivation, creative problem
solving, and different learning styles.”

Susan has strived to serve as a strong role model by practicing what she teaches. She feels it is important for students to see her be curious, research and explore new ideas, experiment and create art. She often creates artwork based on what she teaches; whether it is photography, computer art, digital video, drawing, painting, printmaking, pottery, or sculpture. However, her favorite medium is watercolor. She loves the portability, fluidity, and the challenge of controlling the medium.

She received her B.S. in Art Education at State University College at Oneonta, NY and M.S. in Education at Elmira College, Elmira, NY. At Walden University, Minneapolis, MN she received her Ed. D in Teacher
Leadership.

She most recently has taught at Clyde Savannah, Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, and Syracuse University.

Opening Reception will be held on Sunday, March 9th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Parents, friends and public
are welcome.

Wayne Art Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 12:00 to 3:00 pm and by appointment.
