the intrigue of life and the entropy of existence.
The last four years Kim has received local Individual artist grants from the New York State Council
of the Arts. (Wood land Merry-go-Round Project, Every Day Armor, Soul Vessels, Looking for the

and a Master degree in Fine Art Sculpture from Portland State University in Portland Oregon in

Paintings by “MARJORIE MARCANO and CHERYL LEONARD VANDENBURG” June 11 – July 3, 2015
Submitted by: Wayne County Council for the Arts
Wayne County Council for the Arts is pleased to present in our Main Gallery, Paintings by “MARJORIE MARCANO and CHERYL LEONARD VANDENBURG”.
Marjorie Marcano was very fortunate to have the attention and encouragement of an excellent high school art teacher, Richard Hawver. She spent a year studying fine art at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and worked for a few years in a textile design studio for Warmsetta Mills, also located in New York City. After many years of doodling on everything and some serious drawing, she finally became motivated and took the first step and joined Wayne County Council for the Arts. She has participated in workshops for oil painting, watercolor, sculpture and figure drawing offered by awarded and professional artists – Wayne Williams, Dr. Hwang Chang and Roland “Chip” Stevens. Marjorie resides in Wayne County and continues to enjoy all types of art.
Cheryl Leonard VanDenBurg has lived on Canandaigua Lake and drawn inspiration from the Finger Lakes for over 30 years. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island. She summered there through her early 20’s and a love of the sea and water in general has been a strong influence to her work. She began painting seriously at a very early age. “Draws constantly when should be working”, was a familiar comment from school.
She lived and painted in Chicago, Illinois. Cheryl studied at the Chicago Art Institute, Triton College and College of DuPage during her 14 years there. Painting has always been her closest friend. Travel and a “Wanderlust” for far places has taken her to Germany where she lived for a year and traveled middle Europe painting. Painting trips abroad to France and Italy provided influence.
Cheryl’s theory is that a photograph can provide a better picture, but she can give you her opinion. Comfortable in both watercolor and oil, her work is characterized by movement and mood. There is a sculptured quality which shows up and may relate to seven years studying bronze sculpture with Wayne Williams at F.L.C.C in Canandaigua, New York. Cheryl has her own identifiable style which weaves its pattern through the ever changing metamorphosis of her work.
In the Chris Fayad Members’ Gallery, we are happy to present artist Victoria E. Gibson. Victoria attended Massachusetts College of Art and has taken various art classes and workshops over the years and managed to utilize her artistic talents in different career paths. She worked as a floral designer in a Flower shop; ran a Floral Department with artificial flowers and made arrangements and decorations with dried flowers for craft shows. She also worked as a Retail Advertising Representative for a daily newspaper. Many of the newspaper’s clients were small or sole owner business so she designed and wrote the advertisements for them.
Her enjoyment of color and making up places to express a fleeting moment of time or feeling and attempting to store that for time in a solid form is her artwork.
These exhibits are on view from June 11 – July 3, 2015. An opening reception, which is free to the public, with the artists will be held Friday, June 19, 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Artists Wanted for Seneca Falls Art Walk
Seneca Falls, NY, April 21, 2014 ----- The Seneca Falls Business Association, in conjunction with the Seneca County Arts Council, will hold the first annual Seneca Falls Art Walk in downtown Seneca Falls next month. Throughout the downtown area businesses will turn a portion of their space into art galleries for local painters, sculptors, ceramists, woodworkers and photographers to display their work.
The Art Walk begins Friday May 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with receptions, music and dinner specials. The event will continue on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with music on the street, additional artist booths and sidewalk sales.
“We are pleased to offer area artists a place to display their work and celebrate their talent” said Beverly Lombardo, Art Walk committee chairperson “Often people are reluctant to step into an art gallery. This event will give visitors and area residents a chance to experience and view art in a relaxed atmosphere.”
Artists interested in being a part of the Art Walk are asked to detail size and number of pieces they wish to show and type of display apparatus, if any, so they can be matched up with a host business. Artists with larger displays and tents will also be accommodated with outdoor booth space on Saturday.
There is no charge to show work for this first Seneca Falls Art Walk. Artists are encouraged to remain with their work and to stay on-site duration the event. Artists who are able to paint or demonstrate their skill during the show are invited to do so. Interested artists should contact the Seneca County Arts Council atscac109@gmail.com referencing Art Walk or call Beverly Lombardo 315-568-6137.
Deadline for submission of interest is May 1.

2014 ANNUAL WAYNE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ART EXHIBIT
Submitted by: Wayne County Council for the Arts
Wayne County Council for the Arts opens their 2014 season with the popular Wayne County High School Art Exhibition from March 6th – March 22nd. We celebrate our 33rd consecutive year for this exhibition of art created by students from Wayne County High Schools.

In addition to our High School Exhibit, Susan L. Lane will exhibit in the Chris Fayad Member’s Gallery.
Susan says, “I consider myself an educator first, and an artist second. The driving force, for me, is sharing
what I know to help others learn, achieve success, and feel joy. I began my art teaching career with a goal of demystifying the act of creating art. I strive to make artistic processes explicit so that students can focus their energies on skill building and creativity. That goal has driven me to research, learn, and practice a wide
variety of mediums and processes, broaden my understanding of intrinsic motivation, creative problem
solving, and different learning styles.”
Susan has strived to serve as a strong role model by practicing what she teaches. She feels it is important for students to see her be curious, research and explore new ideas, experiment and create art. She often creates artwork based on what she teaches; whether it is photography, computer art, digital video, drawing, painting, printmaking, pottery, or sculpture. However, her favorite medium is watercolor. She loves the portability, fluidity, and the challenge of controlling the medium.
She received her B.S. in Art Education at State University College at Oneonta, NY and M.S. in Education at Elmira College, Elmira, NY. At Walden University, Minneapolis, MN she received her Ed. D in Teacher
Leadership.
She most recently has taught at Clyde Savannah, Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, and Syracuse University.

are welcome.

Merry Christmas, George Bailey on Stage This Week!
Submitted by: Becky Bly, Director (Seneca Community Players)
Seneca Community Players will once again entertain visitors to Seneca Falls with their version of It's A Wonderful Life with a one hour radio play, Merry Christmas, George Bailey!.
Ever since 1936, when Lux Radio Theatre moved from NY to the west coast to adapt motion pictures into one-hour radio shows, every broadcast began with those compelling words: Lux presents Hollywood! and the Lux theme music.
Initially, the series adapted Broadway plays for the radio, but after just two years, moved to Hollywood to perform these hour-long radio programs live before studio audiences. It became the most popular dramatic anthology series on radio, broadcast for more than 20 years and continued on television as the Lux Video Theatre through most of the 1950s.
The host was the show's fictional producer and through the years changed from John Anthony, to Cecil B. DeMille, and later William Keighley. Another fictional character was that of Peggy Winthrop and later Libby Collins, who as a “Hollywood reporter”, made the commercials for Lux Toilet Soap.
Lux Radio Theater strove to feature as many of the original stars of the original stage and film productions as possible, usually paying them $5,000 an appearance. The first Lux film adaptation in 1936, when sponsor, Lever Brothers, the makers of Lux soap and detergent, moved to Hollywood, was The Legionnaire and the Lady, with Marlene Dietrich and Clark Gable, based on the film Morocco. That was followed by a Lux adaptation of The Thin Man, featuring the movie's stars, Myrna Loy and William Powell.
Seneca Community Players has adapted the original Lux Radio Theatre version of It’s A Wonderful Life including the commercials as they were broadcast on March 10, 1947, as well as including some scenes and characters which were left out to keep the show to 60 minutes. Complete with live sound effects, live piano and organ, and the It’s A Wonderful Life story, theatre patrons are encouraged to occasionally close their eyes and experience the fun, excitement and drama of Lux Radio Theatre as experienced by their parents and grandparents.
The show can be seen at the "Bedford Falls Bijou Theatre" 115 Fall Street, Lower Level.
Show dates & ticket prices: Thursday Dec. 6 @ 7pm, - $6 Saturday Dec. 8 @ 6pm - $8, Sunday Dec. 9 @ 1pm - $6.
