Peppermint Winter Wonderland in Lyons, NY

Schedule of Events

Saturday, 28 November 2009, 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm – Lyons Village Square Park - Peppermint Winter Wonderland’s “Light up the Park”. Lyons High School’s Jazz Ensemble will perform prior to the ceremony. Carols and remembrance with light refreshments at Lyons National Bank (35 William St.), downtown historic Lyons.

Friday, 4 December and Saturday, 5 December 2009 – Dobbins Drugs (52 William St.) and Old Lyons Hardware (57 William St.) Ladies Day with 20% off all merchandise.

Saturday, 5 December 2009 – Grace Episcopal Church (7 Phelps St.) - Christmas Market 10:00AM to 2:00PM. Holiday Market and luncheon.

Friday, 4 December, Saturday, 5 December, and Sunday, 6 December 2009 - Museum of Wayne County History (21 Butternut St.) – Holiday Boutique 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (Fri. & Sat.) and 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm (Sun.).

Saturday, 5 December 2009 – Downtown historic Lyons – Lyons Main Street Program’s “Light Up Lyons Holiday Lights Parade” 5 pm. Join us for our first fun-filled Holiday Parade – anything and everything that can be pulled, pushed, shoved, hauled, schlepped, towed, prodded or driven can be covered with lights and paraded for all to enjoy. Put a smile on holiday revelers faces - use your imagination – “what would you cover with lights for a trip through downtown Lyons?” Always looking for creative music makers! Line- up at 4:30 pm, Broad St. between Queen and William Streets, step-off at 5:00 pm. it downtown to celebrate the Holidays!

Saturday, 5 December and Sunday, 6 December 2009 – H.G.Hotchkiss Building (59 Water St.) – Open House sponsored by the Lyons Heritage Society. Tour the “Peppermint Building” of days gone by from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Live music and gift shop, cookies and hot "MINT" drinks. Learn about the history of historic Lyons’ own Hotchkiss Peppermint Oil.

Tuesday, 8 December 2009 - First Presbyterian Church of Lyons (11 Queen St.) – A Very Special Christmas Pageant 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, 9 December 2009 – Lyons Public Library (122 Broad St.) - Adult Christmas Craft Project Community Room. Supply list may be picked up at the library after Thanksgiving. (315) 946-9262 for more information.

Thursday, 10 December 2009 – Lyons Elementary School (98 William St.) - Elementary School Holiday Concert, 7:00 pm, elementary school auditorium. Performances by the 4th-6th grade chorus, Beginning Band, and Concert Band.

Friday, 11 December and Saturday, 12 December 2009 – Dobbins Drugs (52 William St.) and Old Lyons Hardware (57 William St.) Men’s Day with 20% off all merchandise.

Friday, 11 December, Saturday, 12 December and Sunday, 13 December 2009 – Historic Ohmann Theatre (65 William St.) -"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". Lyons Community Players in Cooperation with Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES Arts in Education presents a Lyons Middle School production directed by Jean Stoep and Larry Ann Evans. 7:30 pm (Fri. and Sat.) and 2:00 pm (Sun.). Tickets $5 Adults, $4 Seniors and Students.

Friday, 11 December 2009 – Lyons Public Library (122 Broad St.) – Children’s Christmas Craft Project 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Library will provide supplies. (315) 946-9262 for more information.

Saturday, 12 December 2009 - Humane Society of Wayne County (1475 County House Rd.) - Holiday Open House, 10-2 p.m. Enjoy coffee or cider and cookies as you visit the adoptable pets. Purchase a light or ornament for the "Tree of Lights for the Animals" fundraiser throughout the month of December.

Saturday, 12 December 2009 – St. Michael’s Catholic Church (3 Holley St.) – Holiday Cookie Bazaar, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. Homemade Holiday cookies by the pound!

Saturday, 12 December 2009 – Lyons Community Center (9 Manhattan St.) – Christmas Festival and Shopping/Craft Bonanza. Day long community event featuring Winter Softball Game, 11:00 am, Family Snowman Building Contest, 12:30 pm, Girl Scouts Tree Decorating and Caroling, 2:30 pm, Pictures with Santa (free), 2:45 pm, Community Holiday Party, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Activities will include Holiday crafts, face painting, Holiday stick-on tattoo, Pin the Nose on Rudolph, Snowman Ball Toss and much more. Refreshments will be available. All outdoor activities are planned “weather permitted”. Vendor and Craft spaces are available ($25.00). Additional information (315) 946-6202

Monday, 14 December 2009 – Village and Town of Lyons – Lyons Chamber of Commerce Holiday Lights. Annual judging of residential and businesses Holiday light displays after sunset.

Thursday, 17 December 2009 - Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County (12 Canal St.) – Holiday Open House, 10:00 am – 2:00 p.m.

Thursday, 17 December 2009 – Historic Ohmann Theatre (65 William St.) - Lyons Main Street Program’s 1939 Classic Film Retrospective presents the retrospective finale with Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney in “Babes in Arms”. Join us in a tribute to the “let’s put on a show to raise the money” volunteerism that is the hallmark of National Main Street Program’s across the country. 7:00 pm, tickets $5 adults, $4 seniors and $3 12 and under.

Monday, 21 December 2009 – Lyons High School, Earl Buchanan Auditorium (10 Clyde Rd.) - 2009 Pride of Lyons Alumni Induction and Holiday Band Concert, 7:00 pm.

Saturday, 26 December 2009 – Location to be announced – Lyons’ Kwanzaa Celebration. See the Shopper for additional information regarding location and exact time. A Cultural Celebration of Kwanzaa as presented by Kolanda Greene.
