SUBMITTED by Jerry M. Ashley, Lyons Main Street Program (27-May-2010)

Hello all, we are looking for volunteers for the following projects / events (information for each will follow the listing):

On Thursday evening, 3 June 2010 at 6:30 pm, we will meet once again behind the American Legion to broadcast mulch around our new plantings on the north bank of the Erie Canal. If we have a good showing, this should not take long; the Village DPW will have a load of mulch to be spread. Bring work gloves, shovels, rakes and 5-gallon buckets that can be used to form a chain of volunteers to cover the slope (think bucket brigade).

Peppermint Days is looking for volunteers--there are a multitude of things that each of us can do to help. Scott and I are manning the soda booth all day on Saturday and Sunday, however we will need relief to get the parade off the starting line. There is a need for both men and women to man the Peppermint Days booth, help set up and take down and keep garbage picked up during the event. We need folks to help line-up the parades (Friday's Kiddy Parade and Saturday's Grand Parade). Please contact Dorothy Barnes at 946-6645 to volunteer at the park or Jerry Ashley at 871-4220 to volunteer with the parades.

We are looking for convertibles and special interest vehicles for the Peppermint Days Grand Parade. We are looking for Miatas (5 in total) that can be used for the Peppermint Royalty (Runners-up and Jr. Princess, Prince and Princess) contingency for both the Kiddy Parade and the Grand Parade (Friday, July 9th, and Saturday, July 10th, nights). If you know of someone that has a really cool truck, station wagon or hardtop--we want them in the parade. We obviously need the convertibles for dignitaries and government officials but we want vintage and special interest vehicles, too! It is always fun to see the various cars and their owners in the parade!

Pass this message along to anyone that you think might be willing to help us out!
