The Lyons Main Street Program is proud to announce the winners of this years "Paint the village Peppermint" contest - in the residential category, the Becker residence at 11 Layton Street took top honors and in the business category, Greco Jewelers narrowly defeated the Wayne County Ladies that decorated the display windows of the Park Bakery Building next door to the Wayne County Courthouse.

The Becker residence is awash in a "patriotic peppermint" style with wrapped candies mounted on stakes, peppermint lights as well as American flags and bunting. Greco Jewelers, located at 8 Canal Street, features a display window of peppermint candies and lights, peppermint pots and tulle bunting. Our congratulations to this years' winners of cash awards.

In addition to the above winners, judges encouraged others to take the time to drive by the following address to see other outstanding examples of Peppermint Pride: Grace Episcopal Church at Phelps and Lawrence Streets, the Shaffer residence, 26 Culver Street; the Pullen Residence, 69 Cherry Street; the James residence, 8 Maple Street; and the Steitler residence, 207 Water Street.

Thanks to all of you that participated and we look forward to seeing more of your creativity next year! Our thanks to the judges: Maggie Simmons, Lisa Franklin, Kim Kelley and Scott Bailey.

Peppermint Days runs from the July 7th Red Carpet Premiere of Annie at the Ohmann Theatre to the classic car show Sunday, July 10th.
