Could there be any sweeter summer pleasure than a shortcake, with sweet, juicy berries piled atop rich, crumbly cake, topped with a cloud of whipped cream...?
The Newark-Arcadia Historical Society is sponsoring their 19th annual Old Fashioned Strawberry Social this coming Saturday, June 22, on the lawn of the museum on High Street.
Workers will spend Friday afternoon "hulling" the fresh berries and the event will take place Saturday from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Rain or Shine!
$3.50 will get you  strawberry shortcake with fresh biscuits (baked in Marbletown by Karen Watson), vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream topping.
Entertainment will be provided by the Erie Fiddlers (1-3 p.m.) The
Fiddlers will play a variety of old tyme country fiddle music. In
addition to the fiddles, you will hear banjos, guitars and mandolin.
