Para-Deys Peaceroom
December Reflections

In some small, and perhaps insignificant way we are making a difference in the world of our choice. We hear the words and songs of the folksingers of old, and know - that at some level, they are singing the songs of OUR hearts. We are challenged to do better with our personal lives, and are enriched by this potential.

Mercy has been shown to us at many levels of persistant claim, and the following is our need to share this bounty. Enriched by the power of love many generations deep, we move forward. Walking in the intensity of song - we hear the Master's voice, and the blessings flow this morning as the everlasting vision of peace with justice evolving - sung by Peter, Paul and Mary - resonates throughout our peaceroom. The collective responsibility of the good life for all resounds!

We have strung lights of blue haze all through our south/western woods this year. Topped by a shining star that my husband created with his own hands by drilling one hundred-twenty holes through a star-shaped piece of wood that he had meticulously measured and cut. The addition of shining yellow lights defines beauty, and the eternal reflection of a promised domain in the place of our choice called Para-Deys, touches our mutual lives and the lives of those surrounding.

We have lived through many changes in our lives, and this year has been no different. My mother-in-law, Edith Elizabeth, passed over in May after ninety-seven years subscribing to a way of life that brought her much joy and fulfillment. The people - the heartfelt cards - the compassion that was shared with us reflected a proud example of the way she lived her life. We will miss her physical presence when our family gathers in the woods on Christmas Eve to share in our Witness for Peace. We will light the fifty luminaries. We will trudge through the sparkling snow, and sit by the campfire - surrounded by our family, the manger scene and the many memories we have helped to create over the past generations, together singing our songs of hope and creating just plain fun.

The cold air sends us scurrying back to the cozy log cabin for hot cocoa and many surprises. The children of all ages are restless for Santa to come, so we close the evening early with love and anticipation for our Christmas Day Celebrations. "Up on the rooftops reindeer paws - click, click, click" and we are mesmerized by the celebration unfolding around us.

Many around the world are without bread, water and safe places to stay. Every day we count our blessings for the peace which surrounds us. Our hearts are thankful for the friends we have made - the lights they have brought into our lives, and the mercy which has been shown to us in our times of need.

Christmas - a time of revelation and peace. It IS a time to take stock of the place of our lives - and a time to be thankful for the gifts we are able to give, and the gifts to come. A Blessed Christmas to all - and to all, peace on earth with the promise of a brand new year evolving. Please make it a good one!

Heya Cousin! Such wonderful sentiments you have expressed! What means the most, though, is that you are sincere in what you've written. Good hearts and spirits are so hard to find. Two such spirits recently crossed over - the former Chief of the Mekoce Shawnee and his wife passed within three weeks of one another last month. I had the privilege and honor of being asked to prepare their burial bundles. They were Christians, but Christians that walked the ways of your Jesus and not following insane dogma like so many who call themselves Christians. Much love to you and yours now, in the future and on your Holy Day. Me and mine will be celebrating Winter Solstice on December 21st. To The Four Winds ....stillwater

Through the magic of sensing and feeling, thank you for the beautiful walk with you and your loved ones into your woods of harmony and peace that you have created this Christmastime. It was as though I was actually there.
With love and yes, Merry Christmas, Annie

Your words are inspiring, always beautiful and very touching. There is so much goodness and beauty inside you and I am thankful you are able to share this with us.

Your peace room looks inviting with your plump, happy tree decorated with many treasures collected over the years.

I enjoyed my walk through your woods of peace and joy. Dick has given his time and talent in creating that guiding star with so many lights that call for the family presence, singing songs of hope and peace around the campfire. And then scurrying back inside for hot chocolate and surprises is much anticipated.

Edith Elizabeth, mother, grandmother and great grandmother will be missed, but recollections of her proud life will be shared this Christmas and always. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Carol
